Behaviour Support in Schools

View the 2017 Obudsman Inquiry into behaviour management in schools. This report focuses on issues concerning students with complex needs and challenging behaviour. The report discusses the difficult challenges that schools face, but also draws attention to reasonable steps that can and should be taken to meet the learning and support needs of students, within a framework of best practice and evidence-based behaviour support.

Australian Association of Developmental Disability Medicine Conference

The full program for the Australian Association of Developmental Disability Medicine (AADDM) 2012 Conference (March 8-10 2012) at UNSW is now available. Detailed information on sessions and presentations can be accessed through the

Program section of the website, and then by clicking on the summary table for each day.

As you can see mental health is a major component, with many eminent mental health professionals and advocates listed as speakers. The conference will be relevant to all mental health professionals who have an interest in the challenging area of mental health in intellectual and developmental disabilities. School-Link is presenting on the Saturday the 10th in the education and health stream, and we do hope to see you in the audience!!!

Mental Health e-journal from Y-Central

The new Y-Central (central Coast Local Health District) e-journal will provide latest citations on a range of topics related to general youth mental health, with topics covering: anxiety/depression; alcohol and other drug use; carers; children of parents with a mental illness (COPMI); disability; foetal alcohol spectrum disorder; gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex; indigenous; non suicidal self-injury; psychosis; recovery; suicide; trauma and treatment.

One of Us Film Festival 

The Brain Dynamics Centre, part of the Westmead Millenium Institute for Medical Research, is holding a Mental Health Film Festival, a film festival exploring mental health and inspiring happiness.

The festival will be held on 24-26 November in Parramatta and Newtown NSW.
